Fireplaces
		Choose the appropriate material. Bricks can be antique bricks salvaged from old buildings, or a new restoration type. Other materials include granite, marble, slate, soapstone, Verdi Antique (a type of marble unique to Vermont), stone, or tile. Butternut paneling surrounds this Rumford fireplace with a 4' square opening. I used new restoration brick to build it.

		A fieldstone Rumford fireplace with a 5' square opening with an old brick firebox. This style is suitable for a great room. On the back side, for kitchen use, is a bake oven. The home is in Shaftsbury, Vermont.
